Energy and Greenhouse Gas Efficiency
Hologic is committed to growing our business while reducing our greenhouse gas emissions. To do this, we will continue to promote energy efficient practices while innovating new alternatives that will reduce costs and improve operational performance. Hologic is committing to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 10% over the next five years, starting with our fiscal 2016 as a baseline.
We will reduce emissions through innovative solutions and operational efficiencies as we continually evaluate our products and processes throughout the value chain.
Successes to Date
- Hologic’s Danbury facility has been recognized by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection for its commitment to reducing energy consumption and air pollution. Hologic received a Summer Saver Bronze Award, given to organizations that reduce electricity consumption and demand by 5 to 10 percent during the summer months.
- Hologic facilities in the United States and Costa Rica have implemented energy efficiency projects, such as retrofitting LED lighting and updating compressors and HVAC systems to be more efficient.
Our 10% emissions reduction goal will be accomplished by investing in efficient and intelligent product innovation, building a culture of conservation, and establishing operational practices that will exceed our past improvements. We will establish a world-class energy management program where our corporate, R&D and supply chain organizations will drive energy reduction activities throughout the organization. Direct and indirect energy use will be reported annually and tied to information about our greenhouse emissions.
