Stephen P. MacMillan, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer

Steve MacMillan joined Hologic in December 2013 as President and CEO, and has led a dramatic turnaround at the Company. He was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors in June 2015. From 2005 to 2012, Mr. MacMillan served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Stryker, where he had been President since 2003. During his tenure at Stryker, Mr. MacMillan successfully led the company through a series of key strategic acquisitions, the launch of a number of products within the orthopedic implants and medical instrumentation businesses, and delivered strong operating performance, with revenue tripling from $2.8 billion to $8.3 billion between 2003 and 2011. Prior to 2003, Mr. MacMillan was a senior executive with Pharmacia, where he oversaw five global businesses with revenues exceeding $2 billion, including one in diagnostics. Prior to joining Pharmacia, Mr. MacMillan spent 11 years with Johnson & Johnson in a variety of senior roles both in the US and Europe, including President of the joint venture between Johnson & Johnson and Merck. Mr. MacMillan began his career with Procter & Gamble in 1985. He received a BA degree in Economics from Davidson College, and is a graduate of Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program. Mr. MacMillan serves on the board of directors of Boston Scientific Corporation, and previously served on the Boards of Alere and Texas Instruments.

Erik Anderson, President, Global Service and Breast & Skeletal Health Service

Erik Anderson was promoted to President, Global Services and Breast & Skeletal Health Service in August 2020. He joined Hologic’s Breast & Skeletal Health Division in 2014 as Regional Sales Manager for the Upper Midwest, then was promoted to Area Business Director. In 2017, Mr. Anderson took over as Vice President of Sales for Hologic’s Medical Aesthetics business amid turbulent times, stabilizing and rebuilding the team while also impacting the broader business, leading to his promotion to President of Medical Aesthetics in 2019. He led the business while also leading Hologic’s divestiture of Cynosure and its transition to new ownership. He rejoined Hologic as Vice President, Global Service Initiative and Breast & Skeletal Health Field Service/Technical Support in early 2020, leading new initiatives to increase customer focus and capacity for the Company’s large service, support and customer experience business. Prior to joining Hologic, Mr. Anderson worked at ImpediMed and Stryker Instruments. He has a bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Iowa State University, where he was a 4-year letter winner and captain of the football team.


Monica Aguirre Berthelot, Chief of Staff

Monica Aguirre Berthelot joined Hologic in August of 2012 following the acquisition of Gen-Probe, where she served as Assistant to the Chairman, President and CEO from 2005 to 2014. She was promoted to Senior Assistant to the Chairman and CEO of Hologic in January 2014 and to her current role in February 2019. Prior to joining Gen-Probe, Ms. Aguirre worked at Radianz, a technology company based in New York, and at TransTechnology, an aerospace and industrial products company in New Jersey. She has served as an Executive Assistant to the Chairmen and CEOs of various publicly traded companies over a career that spans 30 years.


Allison Bebo, Senior Vice President, Human Resources

Allison Bebo joined Hologic in February 2015 with 15 years of human resources experience. From 2000 to 2015, Mrs. Bebo held various human resources leadership positions at ANN INC., primarily focused on talent acquisition, associate relations, and talent management. She most recently served as Vice President, Talent Management. From 2007 to 2012, she served as Vice President, Human Resources for the Ann Taylor and LOFT field organization. She served as Director of Organizational Effectiveness from 2004 to 2007, and Director of Talent Resources from 2000 to 2004. From 1997 to 2000, she served as District Manager for the Northeast Region for Ann Taylor, and from 1994 to 1997 she served as a Store Manager in Stamford, Conn. She holds a BA in Political Science from UCLA.

Patrick Brady, Senior Vice President, Global Supply Chain, Quality and Regulatory

Pat Brady joined Hologic in October 2018 with more than 22 years of medical devices experience. From 1996 to 2018, Mr. Brady worked at Johnson & Johnson in various roles of increasing responsibility. Most recently, he served as the Worldwide Vice President Manufacturing for Johnson & Johnson’s Global Orthopaedics business. Prior to that, Mr. Brady was the Worldwide Vice President Manufacturing for DePuy, a J&J Company and served as the end-to-end supply chain leader on the global management boards of the Joint Reconstruction and Codman Neuro divisions. Earlier in his career, he held management positions in operations and quality at General Electric - Aircraft Engine Division.

Mr. Brady has a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and an MBA from the Boston College Carroll School of Management.


Sean S. Daugherty, Group President, Breast/Skeletal Health and GYN Surgical Solutions

Sean Daugherty was promoted to Group President, Breast & Skeletal Health and GYN Surgical Solutions in August 2020. He joined Hologic in May 2017 as Vice President of Sales for the GYN Surgical division, and was promoted to President of the division in July 2017. He has more than 14 years of experience leading commercial operations, and has established a track record of growing revenue and EBITDA, improving the customer experience, and developing talented and highly engaged teams. Before joining Hologic, Mr. Daugherty served in leadership roles for several medical technology companies including Resmed and Stryker, where he began his career and held positions of increasing responsibility including General Manager, Patient Care, in Stryker’s Medical division. He holds a BS degree in Biological Aspects of Conservation from the University of Wisconsin, where he also was a captain of the basketball team.


John M. Griffin, General Counsel

John Griffin joined Hologic in February 2015 with nearly 30 years of experience across a broad spectrum of legal matters. Mr. Griffin worked at Covidien from 2000 to 2015, where he most recently served as Vice President, Deputy General Counsel. From 1994 to 2000, he served as Assistant US Attorney in Boston, and prosecuted complex criminal cases. He began his career at Nutter, McClennen & Fish in Boston. Mr. Griffin currently serves on the Board of Directors for Por Cristo in Boston, and the New England Legal Foundation. He also serves as Treasurer on the Board of Directors of Health Care Volunteers International. He has a JD from Harvard Law School and a BA in Political Science from Columbia.


Jennifer Meade, Division President, Breast & Skeletal Health Solutions

Jennifer Meade was promoted to her current position as President of Hologic’s Breast and Skeletal Health division in August 2020. She previously served as Vice President of US Sales for Breast and Skeletal Health, after joining the division in 2016 as Vice President of Customer Experience, Service and Support. Ms. Meade originally joined Hologic in 2006 as a financial analyst, and has held a variety of roles in Finance, Sales and Commercial Excellence throughout her tenure at the Company. Talent is a critical enabler of any organization’s success, and she consistently builds highly engaged, high-performance teams that deliver exceptional business results. Ms. Meade holds a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Union College, and an MBA with a concentration in Finance from Boston University.

Essex Mitchell, Division President, GYN Surgical Solutions

Essex Mitchell was promoted to his current position in August 2020, after joining the Company in September 2017 as Vice President of Sales and Commercial Excellence for the GYN Surgical division. Since joining Hologic, Mr. Mitchell has played a pivotal role in building a high-performing, exceptionally engaged, diverse commercial organization. Mr. Mitchell has over 16 years of medical device and pharmaceutical experience. From 2006 to 2017, he worked for Stryker Corporation, where he held various commercial roles of increasing responsibility, leading sales and marketing in multiple divisions during his tenure. Prior to his career in healthcare, Mr. Mitchell played professional football in both the National and Canadian Football Leagues. He received his BS in Business Administration from the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University.

Karleen Oberton, Chief Financial Officer

Karleen Oberton became Hologic’s Chief Financial Officer in August 2018. She joined Hologic in 2006 as corporate controller, was promoted to Chief Accounting Officer in 2014 and joined the new Global Leadership Team in 2017. Before joining Hologic, Ms. Oberton served as senior corporate controller of lmmunogen from 2004 to 2006. Prior to that, she was a Senior Audit Manager in Ernst Young's Life Science practice and in Arthur Andersen's High Technology practice. Ms. Oberton was an active Certified Public Accountant for more than 18 years and holds a BS in Business Administration from Merrimack College. She is a member of Merrimack's Leadership Council. Ms. Oberton serves on the board of directors of AMETEK, Inc.


Kevin R. Thornal, Division President, Diagnostic Solutions

Kevin Thornal was promoted to his current position in July 2019. He joined Hologic in 2014 as Vice President, Customer Experience, Field Service and Clinical Applications for the Breast and Skeletal Health division. He transitioned to Vice President, Breast and Skeletal Health for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region in early 2016, and was promoted to President, Medical Aesthetics in July 2017. During his two-year tenure leading the Medical Aesthetics division, he stabilized the business and built a foundation for growth by attracting top talent and rebuilding the innovation pipeline. Prior to joining Hologic, Mr. Thornal worked at Stryker from 2004 to 2014 in positions of increasing responsibility in sales, marketing, and mergers and acquisitions. Throughout his career, he has established a track record of leading businesses that deliver strong growth and commercial excellence. Mr. Thornal previously played professional football, including a short stint with the Atlanta Falcons. He holds a BA in History, with minors in English and Secondary Education, from Southern Methodist University.


Jay A. Stein, Co-founder, Chairman Emeritus, Senior Vice President and Chief Technical Officer

Jay Stein is a co-founder, Chairman Emeritus, Senior Vice President and the Chief Technical Officer of the Company. He has served as Executive or Senior Vice President and Chief Technical Officer of the Company since its organization in 1985. Since October 2007, Dr. Stein has served as Chairman Emeritus, pursuant to which he continues to participate in meetings of the Board. He served as a Director of the Company from 1985 through 2007, including as Chairman of the Board from 2001 to 2002. Dr. Stein received a Ph.D. in Physics from The Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is the principal author of numerous patents involving X-ray technology.


Jan Verstreken, Group President, International

Jan Verstreken has been Group President, International since October 2020; prior to that he served as Regional President, Europe, Middle East, Africa (EMEA), Canada and Latam. He joined Hologic in January 2017 with more than 25 years of experience, primarily at Teleflex. He served as President of Asia Pacific (APAC) for Teleflex from 2013 to 2016, and from 2009 to 2013 was Regional Vice President and General Manager, EMEA. Mr. Verstreken has broad experience creating and developing strong distribution channels while building aligned teams in global, matrix organizations. He also has been involved in mergers and acquisitions, leading a number of major integrations. In 1992, he co-founded Access Medical SA, a provider of specialized laparoscopic surgical devices that was later acquired by Teleflex. He holds a Bachelor of Marketing degree from the Hoger Handels Instituut in Turnhout, Belgium, and has completed leadership coursework at the Thunderbird School of Global Management and the Levinson Institute at Harvard.


Michael Watts, VP, Investor Relations and Corporate Communications

Mike Watts joined Hologic in August of 2012 following the acquisition of Gen-Probe, and was appointed to his current position in December of 2014. Previously, Mr. Watts was Vice President and General Manager of Acquired Businesses, overseeing a portfolio of assets in transplant diagnostics, infectious disease testing, prostate cancer diagnostics, pharmaceutical services, and agricultural biotech. Before that, he was Vice President of Investor Relations and Corporate Communications at Gen-Probe. Earlier in his career, he held positions of increasing responsibility in strategy, finance and communications at Baxter, Ligand and Merck. He has a BS from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern and an MBA from UCLA’s Anderson School of Management.
